Would be great to meet up and chat with project managers from other Drupal companies and trade strategies around managing developers, managing clients, how to encourage contributions, overcome challenges, organize/maintain documentation, IA, talk about software etc.

Anyone in?

Hey, i just posted

Hey, i just posted http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/node/3810 where we will talk about how we managed developers and clients on a recent project. Might you be interested in joining us?

Any other PMs want to gather up?

Rich

A couple of us would be interested in participating on this, particularly knowing if folks have used SCRUM/Agile approaches in the past.

Great

I'd love to join you.

ngiarratana - we use agile, so absolutely! perhaps shall we try and do this at lunchtime thursday? or you think it's worthwhile with only 5 of us?

Count me in!

I think 5 of us could still have a great conversation about project management.

One possibility would be for us to go and combine with the BoF session mentioned by acm (http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/node/3810), as it seems like it would have some overlap.

But my preference would be for a get-together like arianek suggested in this thread, since that sounds more directly related to my situation. What if we all try to actively recruit some more folks? I know a couple people off-hand who might be interested so I can ping them; maybe the others of you know others too?

What do others think?

I'm in

I would definitely be interested in this :)

count me in as well.

I've been talking with another PM whose very familiar with SCRUM as well and we were actually planning to get together at lunchtime on Thursday. I'm going to suggest that we get together with this group. Once we get the lay of the land, let's set a location and meet. (and 5 would be plenty for a good discussion but I think we'll get more).

works for me.

This sounds awesome everyone. I'd like to join you, but I might be a little late to lunch on Thursday. I do agree this would be great as a separate conversation from the version control BoF. We do an adapted version of scrum and have been playing with agile for a couple years. I'd love to hear what others are doing.

Does someone want to confirm a place for Thursday at lunch?

What's the plan for this BoF? Where/when are you planning on meeting? I'd love to attend and talk about agile/scrum. I've been using it for about 2 years with distributed and in-office teams. Also, I work for a video game developer, so I may bring an interesting twist. :)

sounds great

I'd love to join in.

sounds good all - will figure out somewhere to meet once we're there, i'm not familiar with the space at all!

I'm definitely interested in getting together to discuss project management on Drupal projects. Count me in, too.

we have quite a few people interested but nothing on the BoF board. I can add but making sure other plans haven't been made. Are people still in? We can find a lunch table if nothing else or plan to do it later today.

Hi - sorry, I'm not feeling well this morning and am still at "home" - If someone sees this, can they add a note on the BOF sign? I am going to suggest using one of the BOF rooms (how about 140A - just randomly choosing here, so if it's full another one is fine), as I was at another BOF session at the cafeteria yesterday, and it didn't work too well having it there. Hopefully everyone can make it to pick up food and back in the first half of the lunch, and we'll have at least a half hour. I will try and make it there as soon as I can, but please DO go ahead and start without me!

my vote is to find a lunch table in the cafeteria room. perhaps in the corner farthest from the stairs? i think drupalchix have the other back corner staked out already. :)

I'll see you in 141...

BoF 3:30 today on Project Flow & Tracker: how to use, roadmap.

Thanks for the chat yesterday everyone. It was great to hear others who had used different methodologies. For those, that are interested in learning more about SCRUM, here is a Google Tech Talk on the subject (great stuff): http://www.deanwhitney.com/2007/09/18/scrum-web-development-20/

Someone mentioned checking if there was a PM group on groups.drupal.org - here it is: http://groups.drupal.org/projectManagement

Can someone from this BOF session/location twitter me @ sjmohan with the time for this...

Much thansks,

Sandeep
