I am getting ready to start building my church's website. I am leaning strongly toward using drupal to manage and build this website. I would like to get together and discuss with other developers how they setup their church website. Discussing best practices and modules that were helpful.

I'm interested in this also. :-) I just started following you on twitter.

Cool, hopefully more people are interested as well.

I think there will be at least a few from the Geeks and God community which is pretty favorable to Drupal since the two guys that do the Podcast use Drupal pretty heavily in their own work.

They talk a lot about Drupal in a church context is you aren't familiar with them: http://geeksandgod.com/

Both Rob Feature and myself (the Geeks and God Podcast hosts) will be at drupalcon and would love to talk about this, as if we don't talk about it enough already. If there is interest we can organize some form of get together.

Yep

Count me in

I wouldn't mind hitting that up just to meet you guys. : )

When I'm not hacking on Ubercart, I'm slowly building up my church's site at http://www.ibclouisville.org... recently threw together a quick registration form for a conference to the delight of the organizers... and then it was canceled the next week. : P

I heart audio.module / Views for sermons.

Church and Drupal, represent!

We decided to sponsor this Drupalcon hoping that we'd find some people intersted in Church development with Drupal. Since it's what we do all day, everyday, I'd be happy to lead or participiate in a session on Church web development with Drupal.

We could talk about all the church-specific stuff when it comes to drupal...which modules are strong for what, etc. If anyone wants me (and mfer, of course) to lead a session on Church development with Drupal, I'm in!

Rock it! That would be awesome!

This is a great idea, I'm definitely getting in on this one

hell yeh its great idea interesting

Hey guys. The session has been added, please go here to vote for it so we can make it a reality.

Voted!

Thanks for sticking that up Rob. I'll be fun to see how that goes.

Starting to move my church's website from Joomla to drupal. Would love to hear what kind of features other church's use and how they set them up.

I'll be there as well. Voted.
Looking forward to meeting and discussing this with everyone.

My church website is already well developed (non-drupal) but I currently made and maintain three of it's ministries websites. I'm interested too and looking forward to meeting everyone.

For anyone that wants to, how about we tentatively plan on meeting up Wednesday evening the 4th? I would love to meet some of you and hear how you are using drupal for church and ministry sites, and share a little about how we are using drupal at Christian.com.

If you want to get together, maybe keep Wednesday evening tentatively open (we'll see what else is going on at the conf and play it by ear) and if Wednesday night looks good I'll twitter with everyone on a time and place. Follow me if you are interested in getting together - www.twitter.com/leeraney

I look forward to meeting everyone!

We should make arrangements to get together and hang out at some point during the event. Any one got any yime, place ideas?

I have had several responses to my post above so yes let's tentatively plan on meeting up Wednesday evening the 4th.

So if you want to meet, keep Wednesday evening tentatively open (we'll see what else is going on at the conf and play it by ear) and if Wednesday night looks good I'll twitter with everyone on a time and place. Follow me if you are interested - www.twitter.com/leeraney and I'll tweet time and place sometime on Tues or Wednesday and probably post here as well.

Myself and probably Randall will be there from Christian.com.

I would love to meetup with everyone at DrupalCon. Our church website ( http://www.gracecommunity.ws ) has been on Drupal for several years now and it would be great to learn from others.

Since the session on church sites on on Thursday - would it be possible to meet on Thursday instead?

My ulterior motive is that, since I live an hour away, I want to be able to be home before my kids' bedtime if possible - so making one late night (Thursday) instead of two (Wed+Thur) would be better for me. But I completely understand that I'm in the minority there.. so whatever works best for all .. count me in!

My church doesn't use Drupal - but who knows, maybe I'll convince 'em!

Count me in...

I am planning to move our current church website (gracepointpa.org) to Drupal this summer, from DotNetNuke. I am hoping to meet with other church Drupal folks.

So by now you've probably seen the schedule...rather than doing something separate on Wed night let's meet at the Developement Seed sponsored party...see here- http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/session/drupalcon-dc-kick-party

I'll try to get there fast and get a table and when you get there (for those of you following me on Twitter) check my Twitter update around 7:00 for where the table is. Follow me at www.twitter.com/leeraney or send me an @ tweet that evening.

Also @struesdastruesda yes Thursday might be another time to go out after the "Building Church Websites with Drupal" session. But since there are 3 sponsored events that evening (and people might want to go to different ones) so for those of you that can make it let's meet at the kickoff party Wed night and then everyone give their input on when/where we might also want to meet on Thursday night.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Let's shoot for a Friday BoF session. If no one chooses a time on the BoF board, I'll choose a time by today's end. We're doing the official church/drupal session on thursday and we'll all initially meet there. Then, we can hang out and discuss further on a Friday BoF...

Sound good? I'll assume everyone's cool with this unless I hear otherwise. I'll post the exact time/room when it's available.

Sweet. Count me in!

Ok, so after checking into it, the Friday BoF schedule board won't be up until tomorrow. So, I'll pick a time then. If you have input on what time of day you'd like to do it, just let me know.

Ok, the church bof is scheduled for Friday at 1:45 in room 142

See you all there!
