well the title says it all.
Lets gather the bits and pieces, from the sites over the last year and create that install profile & theme thingie that will rock the Dcamps the next year.

At the end of the bof we should have a blueprint a bunch of modules (payment, signup, calendar) + 1 or 2 themes, and maybe an install profile (?)
so the drupalcamp groups the next year dont have to use to time to get that stuff together.

What works, what dont , do we need other stuff (twitter, google maps etc) in the camp sites or is that overkill ?

This will be an awesome BoF, I look forward to seeing the evolution of this before we meet.

Putting together an install profile for a DrupalCamp website is a definite must.

BADCamp

I can talk about this a bit - I built the BADCamp site.

I'll take the 'why drupal camps should not have their own website' side of the debate and instead ask how we can all work on a community controlled and maintained infrastructure to facilitate drupal camps

yep - we'll probably be putting the wraps on the 2009 version of http://drupalcampcolorado.org/ at that time so this will be a perfect time to share ideas and strategies.

All us Camp organizers/volunteers should attend to ask/answer/show. :)

This is a great idea and I've been wanting to define all the requirements and build a set of patterns for it as well. There are so many good Drupalcamp sites and they are all pretty similar in functionality so this is certainly doable.

What about an Install Profile that will be useful beyond Drupal, but for conference/events in general. I could have used something like that when organizing http://openeverything.hk/2008

See you there.

I will definitely be in on this... We're trying to get the Indianapolis area more involved, and it has been suggested to do a Drupal Camp in '09. We're a fresh group and could definitely use some guidance. The Chicago group has been a great support for us, but it will be great to see other setups. Hopefully they will get in on this as well ;)

Count me in!

I agree this is a must, especially after doing the DrupalSouth website. I have a lot of ideas for this too...

I've been thinking about something like this for a while, but haven't gotten around to it yet (like I'm sure many others in this thread)...

I think it would be smart to think about it not just in terms of a DrupalCamp site, but *Camp (so it would be suitable for BarCamp-style events).

I'm sure the end result would be useful anyway, so I guess this is a premature marketing optimization ;)

I can assist with the setup of registration and payment through uc_node_checkout as used on our site for the upcomming Chicago Ubercart Training, it is the same way the DIWD site was setup.

Count me in!

I am interested - when and where?
