We all know that Drupal is a robust self-contained system for running a social website, but what about when you want to hook it up with the desktop or mobile devices? This session will take a look at the capabilities built into Drupal core, as well as contributed modules, for combining Drupal with desktop and mobile clients. The presenter is a Mac & iPhone developer and the co-maintainer of the DAV API, File Server, Boost, and Trace modules, and inadvertently had code in Drupal core in 2001.

Justin Miller

According to the official schedule, this session is slated for 3:00 to 4:00 in the OpenCalais Room.

Though I am still finalizing the presentation, I wanted to post a bit about the target audience and goals in case you are thinking of attending this session.

I hope to target both beginners to Drupal as well as hardened Drupal developers.

For the beginners, I will be talking about the specific modules currently available, as well as core Drupal functionality, for integrating with the desktop & mobile. I have reviewed over 300 modules for inclusion in this list and will present the most robust, continuously developed, and useful modules -- filtering it all down so that you don't have to. This will be a great place to start if you are new to Drupal and are wondering if you can integrate it into your systems.

For the experienced developers, I hope to show some specific setups, including live demos, showing how these resources can be combined. I'll also be holding a Q&A at the end where people can mention and maybe even have me show off particular solutions that they've built, so come prepared if this is your kind of thing.

Also, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!
