Druapl Beer Geeks united!
I know for a fact that im not the only beer geek in the drupal community!
By beer geek i dont mean a geek that drink all night and geek all day (sure that is fun and gives you hangovers etc)
What I mean is those of us who will go to great lengths to find that IPA that once and for all will rip your mouth wide open by the absurd amount of hopp, and say "aaaah" afterwards :-> hint http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/mikkeller-simcoe-ipa/93054/ or will skip lunch for an imperial stout that is so thick that a non-geek will think its paint.... or just wanna taste the best beers that drupalcon is located in (im still have sweet memories of the microbrewery in sunnyvale, the drupal beer from israel, belgium in general etc...)
My guess is theres probably at least 1 of the DC locals that can show us some of the good local stuff , or have a couple of good pointers for beer lovers to goto. ive found a few trough intense search... but locals If there is one please step forward, and show us the way to the top spots :)
Now that we all come from around the world, woudnt it be great to have a taste off from your local area ?
I will bring some of the local (and by local I mean West side Copenhagen), and would be great to taste other obscure from your local region... or if your a brew master lets us have a taste :P
Yes this is a silly excuse to "maybe" get a bit drunk by high Quality beers, and we have to find a place and yadi yadi yadi but if others are up for it, then i will fill my bags with beers and swag ;)
So please comment if this is something that could be fun.

I'll up for exploring beers with you ;) I have it on good authority that this place is well worth checking out http://www.lovethebeer.com/beer-list.html.

It is! And on Tuesday, March 3, a group of us will be headed over there - meeting at the Convention Center (where you can register for the conference early, hint hint) at 6:30 pm and walking over. We'll be in the back room, and, well, probably take up the entire bar.
Ya know I love some good beer
And, yep the Brickskeller that marcingy linked to is a classic place to not miss - you want it, they have it. There is also Capital City Brewing (http://www.capcitybrew.com/), which has a place not to far from the convention center. Plenty more local beer love around for sure. DC loves good beer. In terms of regional beer you have to get you some Dogfish Head (http://www.dogfish.com/) beers while in the area. They are based in Delaware but found everywhere in the region and some of the best beer in the country IMHO. Flying Dog is another good local brewery (http://www.flyingdogales.com/). I dunno what's up with the dogs. ;-)
I'm going to be horribly busy during the 'con but if I can do a beer outing or two while ya'll are in town, I'd love to introduce you to the local goods.
flying dog
okay i dont think this is gonna be a drupalCon where i have a chance of being sober ... Flying dog is my fav american brewery at this time (my local store got the stuff - yeah!) and they even have this -> http://opensourcebeerproject.com/ How coool is that ?
hmm i guess this is gonna need some coordinating ... ill come up with a plan for the Beer <3's united
Capitol City Brewing
Well, some of the beers from the Capitol City Brewing looks really interesting. Specially there Prohibition Porter http://www.capcitybrew.com/prohibitionporter.php ;-) And i guess that some Cologne geeks could like the Capitol Kolsch (http://www.capcitybrew.com/kolsch.php).

I'm interested, but I've also got several time commitments. Flag me as a 'maybe' :)

Anyone know what the rules
Anyone know what the rules are about brining beer into the US from Europe ?
Hole in the wall
Another place I should mention, which is not in DC proper but is doable by metro, is a place called Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring. Fun place to chill out and drink yummy beers and tater tots. I did a review on my blog last year: http://rocktreesky.com/best-hole-wall-bar
