Ben Shoemate

I am a web designer, developer, and architect. Some people call it User Experience Design and others call an Information Architecture, but basically my job is to understand and document the vision, requirements, and functional specifications of web software.

For the last ten years I have been doing this kind of work on large projects for large companies such as IBM, Nissan, Northrup Grumman, Amex, ExxonMobile, Qwest, and many others. I have designed and help to build just about every type of web solution from employee enterprise portals, search engines, wikis and CRMs to vision prototypes for 5 year roadmaps. Over the years, technology has improved. It has gotten smarter, faster, more agile, and so far, so I have been able to keep up.

Today I work more with wiki's than with complex content management systems, but the principles of user experience design have remained constant - listen to the user, understand their goals, and make them feel like a hero when they use your product.
