What does DPCI do and how do you work with Drupal?

DPCI is an interactive technology agency that delivers integrated Web content management, digital asset management, multi-channel publishing and semantic technology solutions for organizations that need to publish content to Web, print, mobile and e-reader devices. DPCI has chosen Drupal as the best-of-breed open-source Web content management platform to implement for its customers.

How did you first get involved in Drupal development?

Each year DPCI conducts and internal research and development effort to look at emerging technologies to benchmark and compare them to existing platforms. In 2007 we conducted an exhaustive study of Web content management systems, both open-source and proprietary. Drupal rated highly not only in architecture and feature set, but also in the vision that Dries Buytaert set for the community and the product’s direction. At that point we began implementing the technology for our customers, and we’ve never looked back!

What type of projects do you specialize in?

Our customers are all interested in publishing content across media channels, which include print, Web, mobile, and e-reader devices such as Kindle. They are also very interested in engaging their customers/readers in a more interactive and dynamic fashion. Companies hire us to help them maximize the value of their content in printed and digital form.

What are you most looking forward to at DrupalCon DC?

I’m mostly interested in meeting more people in the community. The greatest difficulty we have had is getting into the very close-knit Drupal community. While we’ve been around for 10 years, most of those were spent implementing proprietary technologies. In the past 3 years we have really matured as an open-source provider, but we are trying to invest more time in learning how we can contribute our strengths to the Drupal community.

Additionally, we’re trying to hire a few more great Drupal developers to
join the team.
